Use of flue gas desulfurization gypsum to reduce dissolved phosphorus in runoff and leachate from two agricultural soils

چکیده

Controlling dissolved phosphorus (DP) loss from high P soil to avoid water eutrophication is a worldwide priority. A greenhouse study was conducted in which flue gas desulfurization gypsum (FGDG) applied by using different application methods and rates two agricultural soils. Phosphorus fertilizer incorporated into the soils at 2.95 g kg−1 simulate with levels. The FGDG then amounts of 0, 1.5, 15 on either surface or mixed throughout samples no-tillage tillage, respectively. Ryegrass planted after treatment application. showed that reduced runoff DP 33% leachate 38% silt loam soil, 46% 14% clay FGDG. Mixing method (tillage) provided strong interaction higher To overall effect, mixing-applied performed better controlling while surface-applied (no tillage) its advantage soil. In practice it necessary optimize concentrations, methods, sources (runoff leachate) get maximized benefits had no negative effects ryegrass.

Using flue gas desulfurization gypsum to remove dissolved phosphorus from agricultural drainage waters.

High levels of accumulated phosphorus (P) in soils of the Delmarva Peninsula are a major source of dissolved P entering drainage ditches that empty into the Chesapeake Bay. The objective of this study was to design, construct, and monitor a within-ditch filter to remove dissolved P, thereby protecting receiving waters against P losses from upstream areas. In April 2007, 110 Mg of flue gas desul...

Flue gas desulfurization gypsum: implication for runoff and nutrient losses associated with broiler litter use on pastures on ultisols.

Gypsum has been shown to reduce runoff on soils prone to crust formation in the southeastern United States. Increased infiltration from gypsum applications could therefore help reduce runoff P and other nutrient losses from application of broiler litter (BL), a nutrient-rich fertilizer. In rainfall simulation experiments in June 2009 and May 2011, runoff and nutrient (N, P, Ca, Mg) losses in ru...

Flue gas desulfurization

Flue gas desulfurization is commonly known as FGD and is the technology used for removing sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the exhaust combustion flue gases of power plants that burn coal oroil to produce steam for the turbines that drive their electricity generators. The most common types of FGD contact the flue gases with an alkaline sorbent such as lime or limestone. As sulfur dioxide is responsibl...

Investigation on Mercury Reemission from Limestone-Gypsum Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization Slurry

Secondary atmospheric pollutions may result from wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) systems caused by the reduction of Hg(2+) to Hg(0) and lead to a damping of the cobenefit mercury removal efficiency by WFGD systems. The experiment on Hg(0) reemission from limestone-gypsum WFGD slurry was carried out by changing the operating conditions such as the pH, temperature, Cl(-) concentrations, and o...
